I looked back at the progress pictures last year compared to this year and I can't believe some of you subscribed to me. I'm very happy with the progress and I think a lot of goes to the new Crossfit gym that I joined in October of 2021. The atmosphere and community makes a big difference in personal health. Also threw in a 10 year comparison.

I didn't do anything too stupid in the gym to make it worse. I've swapped out a lot of the workouts that invokve a barbell for more running of various distances and intensities on an air runner. Overall I'm pretty happy with the progress and I think it's getting me ready for a 50k obstacle course I'll be running in the Fall.

2022-07-28 14:44:48 +0000 UTC View PostHerniated my L4 last Thursday deadlifting. Wasn't doing a crazy weight nor did I have bad form it just happens. I think I got lucky though. No nerve pain down either leg and the RX the doctor gave seems to have done the job. That means no heavy lower body lifting for awhile, but that should impact my overall training too much. My gym recently got two Air Runners and I have one at home. So I will make up for my lack of heavy lifting with more dedicated running (sprints and middle distance). I bounced back a little better than I hoped from vacation. I was expecting bodyfat% to be around 11.3% like it was prior to my guys weekend and vacation in those respective weeks. Instead I got 10.7% so I am pleasantly surprised.

Walking abput 4+ miles each day to and from the beach and boardwalk helped a lot. You may notice my lower back looks wonky in some of these. That is because I fucked it up this morning in class. I aggravated it Monday fromt squatting and thought it would be okay today deadlifting so long as I took a good long time to warm up. My back did not agree with my assessment.

On Memorial Day it's tradition for Crossfitters to do a workout named 'Murph' after a Navy Seal who died in service of our country. The workout consists of 1 mile run followed by 100 pullups, 200 pushups, and 300 squats and ends with another mile run. All this with a weighted vest on. So in preparation for this I have been adding in some easy runs with the vest on in order for my ankles and knees to get better acclimated to the extra weight.

2022-05-06 13:42:42 +0000 UTC View PostSorry for the hiatus. I was laid off a few weeks ago (4th time). That's the nature of a lot of the sales jobs I've had and this one I was expecting. I'm was in the finance industry and interest rates jumping up so quickly is a very clear indicator. Trust me though, it could have been a lot worse. Definitely had regression in my numbers on the Inbody570 that tracks my body fat percentage. What's interesting is that my gym performance has gone way up. Only thing I can think of is that the increased carbs do wonder for performance, but also make it harder to manager inrpoving my physique. Here is this week's progress pics. Lowered price due to the bacwards slide in my numbers.

That's prevented me from taking a beer to my bedroom right before bed. Small change but it adds up. My Inbody this week showed steady progress in body fat%. Muscle mass went down but I was expecting that as last week's jump up was way too high to be real. Also likely switching my role at work. I've been interviewing for a position that will give me a much better understanding of my industry. Only issue is that it is salary vs commission so I will make a lot less and in principle I hate salaries too. Guess I will just have to post more. 😉

I feel really good having developed a night time routine and the lunches I've meal prepped have seemingly giving me a lot of energy. Thankfully they are also incredibly easy to make. 2 boxes of Barilla chickpea rotini, 1 jar of no sugar added Ragu, 1 bag of Walmart brand turkey meatballs = 6x perfectly portioned lunches.
