I took a much needed trip to the coast this weekend so I could bathe in both the ocean and moonlight, and reset my spirit. And when I think of the ocean, I think of selkies.
I've been fascinated with the lore of selkies and similar myths for a long time, and whenever I return to the ocean it feels like coming back to my original home. And like coming home, it's a chance to clean my spiritual laundry and start fresh.
Maybe not the strongest metaphor, but I'm tired and for fact have sand in my vagina (and my ears, and my nose, and my hair ). ^^; I spent most of the day today looking for a relatively private spot and waiting for good lighting, but the weather was so nice today that several families were out and it was direct sunlight until late afternoon. Luckily I was able to perch on some dunes that provided cover from the road and the beach so I could snap some quick shots before I lost the light.

Who the fuck am I kidding? It's almost Commercial Christmas. We're all busy, crazy and tired.
Well even if nothing else is going right so far, maybe some oldies, but goodies of me in 12 degree weather will cheer you up! Shot by the amazing human, Bunny Luna almost four years ago on a very cold January morning. Anyone who knows me knows I don't balk in freezing temps, but the second the mercury tips over 70, and it's even a little bit humid I start to wilt.

Shame on me for missing Krampusnacht! It is a tangent festivity to the Feast of Saint Nicholas (so the evening of December 5th) that's been gaining popularity in recent years and has jumped the pond to the US.
A few years ago I made a costume for Krampusnacht because I was so intrigued by the relatively unheard of legend of Santa's infernal helper, and I decided to make a costume a collaborate a fun shoot at a local Christmas lights park!
Definitely not as scary as some of the extravagant costumes out there, but I'm still pretty proud of it!

I got a fun package in the mail yesterday! My first pair of wings and ears from an amazing local designer. She even threw in an antenna headband that I was not expecting. I have some fun plans for the wings/antenna set, centered around my favorite cryptid.

Many years ago I used to have enough free time to build head-to-toe costumes for myself, and this one was by far one of my all-time favorites. The headdress has since been dismantled (one day will turn them into individual wing sets), but I still have the corset. It's hard to see in the photos, but I did string up LEDs under the hip panels. Only ever shot it once, but I have no regrets in building it.

The end of my personal marathon is close! Just need to get through Friday and then your girl is gonna turn into a pile of ash and resurrect sometime in December. Thank y'all for bearing with me so far. It's been a crazy fall, but I'm so grateful for the opportunities I've had to earn extra income. I was able to pay off my car this month, which I know seems like small potatoes, but I feel very proud of myself. I also have some very exciting prospects on the horizon for next year *coughcoughDragonConcough*, so even though I'm about to "hibernate", there are many things to look forward to, and I can't wait to share!

Sorry for the radio silence y'all! Still hustling through the last week of the ren faire, plus gearing up for the olympics of commercial kitchen workers across the US; Thanksgiving.
I love and hate Thanksgiving.
I love pampering and cooking for people I care about (hint, hint, if y'all have cooking video requests, let me know!). So, I love Thanksgiving because it's an excuse for me to go all out for my loved ones and make all their favorite things, but I also hate Thanksgiving because I don't usually get a lot of time to prepare for my own Thanksgiving because I'm busy prepping Thanksgiving for others.
All this to say, I'm particularly distracted this time of year, but I'm thinking of y'all too, and if there's something you want to see, let me know! Meanwhile, here's a way back oldie but goodie featuring food!

Meow-zers! It's finally Halloween! As usual, I'm just chilling at home with a bowl of candy, waiting for dark, but here's a devilish costume I made a few years ago! The hair is actually a styled wig, because I'm honestly not that great at styling my own hair. ^^;

My apologies for that radio silence! Had a very busy weekend and then an offer to stay busy until the end of November! Fellow leather-worker friends of mine were accepted last minute into a multiweek festival and because crowds have been on a shopping frenzy, they've been having difficulty maintaining inventory levels. I'm so excited and grateful to be adding my inventory in the mix and instead of one last show for Halloween, I'll be cranking out product until after Thanksgiving!
Am I a masochist, yes. But earning some extra cash is a powerful motivator. In honor of my descent into leather and fancy, here are some oldie but goodies featuring some of my biggest pieces.
