Fastest lap from Mallory, not a lap I am particularly proud of, quite far off the top 10 pace. We are getting better and better and setting the car up, but ultimately my driving needs to improve if we are going to get back up to the sharp end.

Once again I have been slacking with the updates, sorry about that!!! In qualifying the alignment felt very wrong, we got the trusty strings out and checked to find out the front was all over the place, reset it back to where we wanted it for race 1. Race 1 was a bit messy, I got squeezed into turn 1 and then hit from the rear at the hairpin, I also had a dodgy gearshift which lost me a chunk of places, so despite making a few on track overtakes finished in P20. (The same driver that hit me went on to do exactly the same to someone else and was later disqualified) After race 1 we went for a more aggressive rear alignment as the front was much improved but I felt a lot of mid corner understeer. The race (Race 2) itself was much better, no contact but some really good clean racing. I lost a lot of places on the opening lap, maybe a bit to cautious bit made some over takes and finished back in P20. Obviously much lower down the order than I would like to be, but we came here with no expectations really so I'll take it and move on

BRANDS HATCH RACE REPORT Just realised it's Mallory in a week and I've not done a Brands report yet... Qualifying went OK, P11 with a 56.2 was an improvement on last year but a little disappointing, I wanted a 55 and had a 55.5 optimal on the garmin, just couldn't string it together. Race 1 I got a decent start but was clipped and ent sideways into turn 1, a steady race I finished in P9 on the road later the car in P8 was disqualified so P8 officially. Race 2 starting P3 not so good a start and I ended up doing the very thing that someone had done to me in turn 1, clipping another car who ended up sideways in front of me (Sorry Dan!) Blocked in behind him saw me lose a lot of places, then later in lap 1 the leader span, the cars in front of me slammed on their brakes as did I, unfortunately the car directly behind didn't stop in time and hit me, spinning me round (captured by @sjnphotographer ). The rest of the race was spent trying to make up positions, i had fun and some good battles, but also a lot of contact. Finished in P18 with a bruised and battered car, but luckily nostly cosmetic damage. Plus, lots of good content for OFTV 😅 Big thanks as ever to everyone that came to help and support, and big thanks to my sponsors for keeping me going.

So... gearbox rebuild is on the cards for this weekend. The guy who normally looks after this kind of stuff for me has selfishly gone over to France to spanner in some unknown little race called Le Man's... never heard of it. I've never so much as cracked open a gearbox before but this one feels like it needs new 3/4th synchros... how hard can it be 🤷♂️🤣

Here's my fastest lap from Qualifying, gutted I didn't drop into the 55s, the data said I had a 55.5 optimal but I just couldn't string it together. I was struggling to get the set up right and plagued by understeer and gearbox issues all weekend (I pulled those directly out of the little book of race driver excuses).

Brands Hatch Race 2 went a bit like this... I had a bad start, then was spun on lap one and just seemed to become a magnet for contact... rubbings racing and all that... I ended up finishing the race P17 after making a few places up. A poorly gearbox hindering me as well. I'll get some videos up soon.

Right... been slacking with the updates. Qualified in P11 out of 31, set. New PB but still wasn't quite enough for a top ten. Race 1, good start and made some places off the line, unfortunately got a couple of taps through the first corner and had to save a spin, managed to make a few places back up and finished in P8. I'll take that, a few more battle scars too 😅

Bit of an update on the car, if you don't fancy listening to my rambles the situation is shock stripped down and we have found the top mount bearing was siezed, fairly certain that this is what caused the damper to snap. Its also damaged the wheel bearing so we've ordered new top mount bearings and new wheel bearings for both sides. When they come we will rebuild the damaged side and replace the same parts on the other side as a precautionary measure. Back racing in 11 days 😬🤣

Another angle of the damper failure... just glad I didn't end up in the barrier, travelling about 60-70mph at that point. New parts on ordered though, we'll try to get some decent behind the scenes content on the rebuild.
