2023-06-29 21:20:57 +0000 UTC View PostSince I can remember this has always been one of my ongoing problems. I continue to buy new books knowing that I have an ever growing pile at home that I still need to read, and sometimes the excitement of a new book takes over the spot of another book that has been waiting in the pile for months. I do not think this is an issue that I will ever be able to fix because I love buying new books way too much. Going to the bookstore is one of my favorite activities, so I guess this pile will just continue to grow!

DM me so we can talk about your favorite books right now 😊
Happy Wednesday and the official first day of summer!
The book “Blink” is just one written by Malcolm Gladwell and to some it is his most popular writing being a #1 National Bestseller, although it was not the first or last that he wrote. This book is about the power of thinking without thinking, or the decisions that are made in the “blink” of an eye. Gladwell uses both neuroscience and psychology to reveal the way to make good decisions. There are three main takeaways from the book including: decisions made quickly can be just as important as those that are pondered over for a long period of time, sometimes our instincts betray us, and our first impressions and snap judgements can be educated and controlled.
Nothing like starting off the weekend with a new book!
2023-06-16 19:19:50 +0000 UTC View PostThe Goodreads app is very similar to the Book Lovers Journal that I mentioned in an earlier post, because it is a way to log the books you have read but with more features. Reading has never been the most common of hobbies amongst the people around me and the Good Reads App is a way to interact with other book lovers. It is a social media for book readers, where you are able to create a profile and log the books you have read or want to read. It also uses this to recommend other reads to you. Some other cool features include being able to set reading goals for yourself, rate books, and read other readers reviews of books.
2023-06-15 15:00:39 +0000 UTC View PostOKAY, let’s get into it! Do you prefer reading on a kindle or the hard copy of the book? There are definitely pros and cons to each so I will share my personal opinion. Starting with the kindle, the pros of a kindle are that it is lightweight and easy to travel with, new books are always available, and after the initial cost of the kindle the actual books in the store are cheaper than hard copies. There are even free book options as well. The cons include that it does need to be charged, depending on the version you have they are not all able to be read in sunlight, and the initial cost is higher than the average book. With that being said a lot of these pros and cons can be transferred into the hardcopies of books. However, personally at the end of the day I have always enjoyed the hardcopy over kindles because I enjoy the physical touch of a book: being able to turn the page, see the cover, and feel how much you have read or left to read. Also kindles take away the small joys that I find in going to the bookstore or adding to my own personal library. There is just something about finishing a book and adding it to the collection on my bookshelf that never gets old.

2023-06-10 15:45:55 +0000 UTC View PostThis has to be one of the best and useful gifts that I have ever received. The Book Lovers Journal is a way to log all of the books I have read. If you are like me sometimes it can be sad when you finally finish a book you have been reading so long and just move on to the next one. This journal helps me feel the success of finally finishing a new book and getting to log it into my journal. Not only do I log the book title and author but each entry also includes the following: Publisher, Number of Pages, Genre, How I Discovered or Acquired this Book, When& Where read, Noteworthy Experiences while Reading this Book, Rating each aspect of book on scale 1-10, Recommend this book& to whom, Notes and Opinions, Overall Rating.
All of this is a great way to really tie the loose ends together and finish a book.
There is something about tote bags and books that go hand in hand. I love that I recently got this bag at my favorite bookstore and it reminded me of my childhood and reading the original version of Matilda. Most of us have at least seen the movie if we have not read the classic book by Roald Dahl. I know that Netflix even recently came out with a new version of this famous story making it into a musical. It is amazing to see things that create associations with different memories from the past and to watch the same idea continue to grow and flourish into new concepts from different perspectives.
2023-06-07 17:20:14 +0000 UTC View PostHappy Sunday! Let’s set some reading goals for the week! I have been a little busier recently and have fallen off a bit so it’s important to make sure I set some realistic goals for myself to get back into reading! I am thinking at least 20 uninterrupted minutes a day this week, I’ll let you know how it goes!
2023-06-04 22:34:26 +0000 UTC View PostI love to read by the pool or on the beach 🌞
2023-05-31 17:30:09 +0000 UTC View PostReading another Don Miguel Ruiz book! This time, The Fifth Agreement, which is an extension of his book The Four Agreements. The Four Agreements has been one of my favorite book for years, so I am really enjoying this one. The four agreements include-
1. Be Impeccable with your word
2. Don’t take anything personally
3. Don’t make assumptions
4. Always do your best.
I’ll have to keep you updated on what the fifth is all about!
How is your week going so far? 😊

2023-05-02 21:34:43 +0000 UTC View PostI know I just said I don’t usually read fiction but I had to make an exception🙈 Once and awhile I get in the mood to be engrossed in a good fictional story and when a book has as many awards as this one does how can I say no! It is even a winner of the Pulitzer Prize! It is a long one though, so I have been reading at least 50 pages a day so I don’t get stuck on it😊 The Goldfinch by Donna Tart, I think they even made it a movie 🤔
2023-04-27 22:51:05 +0000 UTC View PostWhat’s your favorite genre? I’ve honestly never been huge on fiction books! I always want to be learning something new so I’m usually reading nonfiction. I love all different types just depends what mood I’m in that week😊 This week I have been reading a lot of self help, spiritual books! It does not mean I have to believe everything I read but it’s cool to see different perspectives.
2023-04-23 18:39:13 +0000 UTC View PostAlong with reading, yoga has always been one of my favorite past times. I have never done well with traditional workout classes so yoga has always been perfect for me. I love that while I’m breaking a sweat I am still getting lessons on every day life! I do love learning new ideas, so that’s probably why I love yoga and reading 😊

2023-04-20 21:13:29 +0000 UTC View PostI love finding an author that I really enjoy reading! It makes it so much easier to find a new book to read when I know I already like their style of writing! The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz has always been one of my favorite books. So now I’m reading The Mastery of Love by him! It teaches us how to be better in love and our relationships, do you think you would like to read it too? 😊
