Ok! Update to the update to the update: called Sony tech support and apparently the most recent Mac software update doesn’t like Sony cameras, so off to buy an external SD card reader because Apple just loves finding new ways to make me buy dongles. Ugh.

Update to the update - either my camera, my computer, or the cord connecting the two is broken. Given that its 7:30 on a Sunday in full lockdown here in Toronto... yeah I can't even pop out and grab a new cord because everything is closed.
