i really wanted to hate this one. i don’t like colleen hoover or her writing style. i find her prose to be of that weird modern staccato variety that i don’t care for. choppy and simple. feels like something i could write (and i’m not a good writer.)
however, the plot was extremely entertaining and suspenseful. on page 15 i predicted everything that happened up until the epilogue, but i was no where near predicting the twist that happened in the epilogue. it threw me for such a loop; it made me sick to my stomach. i couldn’t stop thinking about it after i put it down. 6/10. plot is more like 9/10 but the 3/10 writing brings it down.

this was a decently difficult read it’s a super dense book with really long excerpts from various philosophers’ works. some are existentialists some weren’t but wrote some existentialist esque things. i’m not a pseudo intellectual i just read what i can find for free or cheap at the library and thrift store and estate sales lol 7/10
