bout to take a bath and start a new book!! I just finished Severance last night and I absolutely adored it (even if the ending left me incredibly unsatisfied 🥲). Gotta write a review for that for my goodreads! I try to review every book I read but I'm a bit behind I just really loved the writing style and narrator's voice in Severance, I found her so relatable and funny and believable. The story is about the end of the world due to a pandemic (written before COVID but wow do they get a lot of things spot on, when I was initially reading I thought it must have been written after COVID). The story follows a group of 8 survivors (who believe they may very well be the last people on Earth) and their interpersonal drama. It's just so poignant with its commentary on capitalism, consumerism, our increasingly individualistic society and what it's like to live untethered to any family or true home. I found it hit close to home because I often feel disconnected from anyone or anything and nostalgic for a place that doesn't exist, relationships that no longer exist, people that may have never existed. I think first generation immigrants will probably find that the book hits even closer to home than it did for me. Anyways, onto The Martian!!
