

Does dental health really matter with our pets?
Dental Health. When plaque and tarter build-up, so does bac teria, and that can cause ba d breath. Exposed gums can lead to bacteria getting in the gums causing cavities, infec tion, tissue destruct ion, and tooth loss.
Heart Health. Infe ctions that start in the teeth and gums can travel through the blo od and nega tively affect organs like the heart. Also, periodontal disease has been linked to an increa sed risk of heart dis ease in dogs.
Liver and Kidney Health. The primary function of the liver and kidneys is to filter the blo od, and if bacteria from the o ral cav ity spread to each of these organs, it has the potential to cause infection and inflammation.
