Basement: The basement is pretty much a small studio apartment, it’s got a bedroom partition, it’s own bathroom and shower, and a storage room that leads to a washer and dryer. One of my roommates stays there. There’s no door though, instead it leads up a staircase up to floor1. Floor1: just a kitchen and living room, separated by two staircases. The living room has a super high sealing though because of floor2. Floor2: is technically a loft, so it shares the same ceiling as the living room, it’s got a futon on it for guests and is used by my roommates and I as a chill communal zone. It also has 3 doors that lead to 3 rooms, shared by me, and 2 other roommates. There’s also a cool spiral staircase in the middle that leads to floor3. Floor3: is kinda like an attic situation, slanted ceiling, no door, but it’s big; it’s roughly 9’x16’ with the staircase and a pillar taking up a small chunk of it. I’m just barely short enough to not have to worry about bumping my head on the lowest point of the ceiling. 2 or 3 inches taller and you’re bonking your head. As one of the shortest in the house, and with the ability to utilize all that space for photography, I kinda really want the room. The downsides: The AC unit in the window doesn’t look the nicest, and is noisy. It’s also pretty humid in there but I found a cute dehumidifier that’s perfect for it. The lack of door is kinda weird. In theory someone in the basement room, can straight up walk all the way up to the attic room without encountering a single door. With that said I can hang my sheet curtains for privacy and trust everyone in the house. The other things are the animals, the bugs for one; I think just using a stick on window sealer around the AC unit should solve the bulk of that issue. the house overall isn’t the best when it comes to sealing the small cracks bugs can crawl in from though. Even in my room I’ll occasionally find a stray ant or spider, but it’s not like it’s every day. Then there’s the other animals. There are 5 cats in this house! So not only will I soon have 4 human roommates, I also have 5 cat roommates. 2 of them absolutely love me and will 100% climb up to mess with me all day since everyone else has outside human jobs. another one kinda ignores me, but may come and visit every now and then. One is a maniac and spends all day doing laps around the house and may want to fuck around in the attic. The last is old and doesn’t like climbing stairs much, probably won’t see him often. So that’s the funhouse I live in. Moving out of this room gives me double the space and a ton of shooting location/angles, but removes my barrier from clown world.
