I got my flu shot so I took a bunch of pictures with my favorite stuffed flu virus!
Please get your flu shot too, it’s even more important this year because of Covid-19!

1. Flu vaccines cannot cause you to get infected with the flu! Many people claim to get sick, but those symptoms (like fever, chills, etc.) are simply the immune system’s response, not the virus!
2. Flu vaccines are made of inactive virus, so they cannot possibly cause disease! Instead the inactive virus is found by immune cells to give you antibodies!
3. The reason you have to get a new one each year is because the flu mutates more rapidly than most other common viruses. Different strains can blend together and individual strains have huge mutation rates.
4. Make sure to move your arm a lot after getting the vaccine! Your lymphatic tissues, which carry all sorts of immune cells and dead pathogens and fluids through your body, can only move when your muscles do since they cannot pump like your veins and arteries can! By moving the lymphatic system can deliver the dead virus directly to immune cells to develop antibodies!
