I am so grateful for the hard work of the millions of Americans that helped to build this country and create greater social & economic freedom. I am celebrating this beautiful #LaborDayWeekend with my family and closest friends. Thank you to all our workers, frontline workers and those in uniform who make this country what it is. We are indebted to you. 👏 The men & women who have served their country with honor in & out of uniform should also be celebrated. To those who lost their lives in Afghanistan and those families who lost a service member, we will never ever forget you. 🇺🇸 I’ve shared before that father's family is from Cuba and my father was the first to be born in this country on a military base in Key West, Florida. He came from a country where workers do not have the same rights we have here. I wish my father was alive today to share this weekend with my family, to have known my fiancé Ben and to join us to honor hard working Americans who helped to build this country and those in the military who have also worked so hard to keep us free. Both he and my grandparents knew well how Cuba was a place where freedom was severely limited and today where the rights of its citizens and workers remain terribly oppressed. He taught me through his stories the importance of hard work and of living in a land where freedom reigns alive and how precious it is. I am forever indebted to all of you who advocated for better working conditions and the brave souls who have worked and fought so hard to protect all of our freedoms in this country. I also believe one of the most important freedoms we have is our right to chose what happens to our bodies. Having an abortion is a deeply painful personal choice between a woman and her doctor. It is a freedom that should be maintained. ]This is the United States, land of the free, where women should always have a choice about what happens to their bodies. So many worked so hard to protect our country’s freedoms, freedoms of all kinds. To me this means freedom to work in a safe environment, have equality, social justice, and ultimately the freedom of choice. *I love you all, and wish you the best Labor Day with close ones* ✨
