Here’s how it works:
1.Spirit Box: A Spirit Box, which rapidly scans radio frequencies to pick up snippets of words or sounds, is used to try to capture spirit voices or responses. These sounds are believed by some to be manipulated by spirits to communicate.
2.Noise-Isolation Headphones: One participant (the “receiver”) wears noise-canceling headphones connected to the Spirit Box. This person won’t be able to hear or respond to anyone else in the room, as they’re only able to hear the raw sounds from the Spirit Box.
3.Blindfold: To heighten the receiver’s focus and eliminate visual distractions, they usually wear a blindfold.
4.Questions: Another investigator, separate from the receiver, asks questions out loud, hoping that spirits will respond through the Spirit Box. Since the receiver can’t hear the questions, any response they repeat is thought to be untainted by expectation or suggestion, which can add a layer of objectivity.
