I’m excited to share an upcoming project I’ve been working on—building my very own greenhouse! Once it's finished, not only will I be growing vegetables for myself and Tyler, but I also want to give back to all of you, my amazing supporters. So, I’ll be offering a chance for all of my Discord subscribers who are also OF members to receive fresh veggies from my garden!
Before I dive into the details, I want to share a little personal background. Tyler and I have faced a lot of loss. We’ve lost all of our parents, mostly due to unhealthy food habits. For the last three years, we took care of Tyler's family before her passing. Now that we’ve gone through that tough time, we finally have the freedom to focus on our fans, our home, and getting things back to normal.
We’re both determined to break the cycle of unhealthy eating habits, and that’s one of the reasons I’m building this greenhouse. I want to show all of you how possible it is to grow your own food year-round on your own land. With proper insulation, you can grow fresh produce any time of the year!
The Greenhouse Project
Location & Design:
The greenhouse is designed to maximize sunlight. The structure faces south to capture sunlight for most of the day. There’s a huge window at the front and windows all around the sides to allow in plenty of light. I’ll also add 1/2 inch plexiglass to the roof to capture sunlight from above and add insulation to keep the plants thriving, even in colder months.
Construction:
The frame is built with strong wooden beams, and I’m planning to use 8x8 glass blocks for the windows, which will help trap heat and sunlight. The walls at the bottom will be insulated to keep the temperature stable, and I’ll install an in-wall air conditioning and heating unit to regulate the temperature year-round. I’ll also lay down a base of compacted crusher fines to create a stable and insulated floor. I’ve moved 4,700 lbs of crushed pink granite for the base 💪🏾🥰.
Raised Garden Beds:
Inside the greenhouse, I’ll be building raised garden beds that are two feet high. This design will allow the plants’ roots to grow deep and healthy. I’ll also extend posts from each corner of the beds to create a frame for grow lights, ensuring the plants get enough light year-round, even on cloudy days.
Solar Power & Sustainability:
I’m considering adding solar panels to help power the greenhouse, including the air conditioning and grow lights. This will make the setup more sustainable and eco-friendly.
Fresh Veggie Freebies
Once the greenhouse is up and running and the crops start growing, I’ll be offering fresh veggies to my Discord subscribers who are also OF members! Here’s how it will work:
How to Enter:
If you're a Discord member and an OF subscriber, submit your name for a chance to receive fresh veggies.
When a Crop is Ready:
Whenever a crop is ready, I’ll randomly select a subscriber to receive fresh veggies, shipped directly from my garden.
Healthy & Fresh:
I plan to grow a variety of vegetables, from tomatoes to leafy greens, and even larger crops like pumpkins. When the time comes, you’ll get a taste of homegrown veggies, sent with care.
Promoting Healthy Living
I believe in sharing healthy, non-processed food, and this is my way of giving back. Many of our loved ones have suffered due to unhealthy diets. Our food system often fails us, but we can make better choices! I hope the fresh veggie offering will inspire more people to embrace healthy eating and homegrown food.
I’ll also set up a live camera in the greenhouse so subscribers can tune in anytime and watch the veggies grow close-up and in real-time.
Future Plans
Growing up, my family struggled financially, and food pantries helped us a lot. They’re so important for struggling families, and everyone deserves fresh, healthy food. If this greenhouse project works well, I have even bigger plans. I want to build a larger greenhouse in the city, and all the produce from that will be 100% donated to the local food pantry. You don’t need millions of dollars or long legislative bills to feed people—sometimes, all it takes is time, effort, and care.
This project is my way of thanking all of you for your incredible support and sharing a little piece of what I’m growing. I can’t wait for the greenhouse to be finished and for the first crops to be picked. Stay tuned! ❤️
