Added 2024-09-24 16:01:25 +0000 UTCI continue my exploration of castles 🏰 in the west of the Highlands ⛰️ . Dunvegan Castle on the Isle of Skye is one of the largest Hebridean castles. And it is the only one that has been owned by one family for 800 years, the Chiefs of Clan MacLeod. What's more, it has been continuously inhabited since that time! Restored again and again, it is one of the few that are still very well preserved.
There is a small landing stage on the shore below the castle from where you can take a boat to the seals. The garden is worth seeing, with waterfalls and a water lily pond, plants with huge leaves, bridges over streams and small woods that you can walk through at a leisurely pace. And even typical English-Scottish weather ☔️ 🌧️ doesn't dampen my desire to explore! Sun ☀️ shines in me 😉Kisses 😘
