It’s full on Fall in the Pacific Northwest. During transitions is always a good time to set up your massage table and do some bodywork exchanges with buds. Make sure the room is warm. If you’re able invest in a heating pad for your table. It is well worth the investment. It allows you to keep the temp of the room warm, but not hot, because while you are giving it’s easy to overheat and sweat all over the receiver. Not knocking that. Some guys really like that.
From the receiver’s experience, the heating pad keeps them warm because it serves as a counter to the oil wicking the heat from the surface of their skin.
During colder months it is always important to frequently check in with the receiver and confirm that they are warm enough. Sometimes a receiver won’t say anything until they are already chilled and beginning to shiver. At that point it is a challenge to bring their core temperature back up quickly. The first thing you do is cover them completely with a thick blanket (wrap the end of the blanket around their feet, and tuck the blanket in all around them. Once they are covered increase the heat of the room by at least 3-5 degrees.
But sometimes even the blanket isn’t enough and then the most powerful thing you can do to increase their core temperature is to cover them with a blanket, turn up the heat in the room, and then lay your whole body on top of the blanket. Breathe deeply together. It will take 5-10 minutes, but you will get them back to being comfortable and able to relax and receive. ✌️
