It has long been believed that gay people are here in this world to elevate this world. Throughout human history we have been the peacekeepers, shamans, and medicine men. Our uniqueness arises directly from our outsider status. We are viewed by society as “other,” so we view ourselves as other. And it is from this position that we develop a perspective that is over, above, and outside everyday life. We see life from a wider, all inclusive OVERview. We try to live ABOVE society’s expectations because we understand the power of going high when others go low. And because of our status OUTSIDE our overriding culture, our culture’s beliefs don’t necessarily apply to us. This gives us the freedom to explore and experiment. The old myths don’t apply to us. So we create our own new ones.
Being born gay is a profound gift. It is important that we always remember this, and treat this gift as something sacred, and honor this gift by mindfully setting a good example for others to follow. 💙
