Author Toby Johnson talks about how words like “forever” and “never” don’t actually pertain to the future (as in the way they are often used- “I will love you forever,” or “I’ll never leave you”). These words actually pertain to the intensity of our feelings in the present moment.
None of us can predict the future, and the only things life guarantees are: birth, sex (with ourselves or others) and death.
Birth is celebrated by the world and therefore it is out in the open. Sex is celebrated by some, but there are still many who view it as taboo or as a purely functional process to procreate. Death is the outlier. Death is feared and therefore not spoken of. And yet it will visit each and every one of us. Guaranteed.
In the West, where myths are taken as literal true stories, many believe that we personally exist as ourselves after death; we, as ourselves go to Heaven or Hell. In the East, where myths are viewed more as lyrical guidebooks rather than historical fact, the afterlife includes the belief in reincarnation; meaning our life (or more accurately our life “energy”) goes on. But we as our personal current self is no longer.
These are challenging concepts to grasp. But it is important that we try. When we engage with sexual energy we are engaging with whatever it is we were before we were born and whatever it is we will be after we die. It is who and what we truly, deeply, clearly are. Think about this every time you cultivate this vibe; alone or with another. It will bring you closer to the truth, and help you transcend our cultural fear of death.✌️
