Our community is being threatened in ways that it never has before. Yes, anti gay attitudes have been around for a long, long time. But up to this point it hadn’t expressed itself in mass shootings at gay bars. There are four things we now must remember, like a mantra:
Be Strong- a community under attack needs to stand firm in order to withstand and survive the assaults.
Be Kind- to others and yourself. Don’t lower yourself to the abuser’s level.
Be Prepared- there will be more attacks. So when in public, be aware of your surroundings, and know where the exits are.
Be Brave- if you are there and you can do something to stop an assault, don’t doubt yourself. Follow your instincts and save others.
Being strong, kind, prepared, and brave; all of this is our nature as human beings. Remember this.
