PCOS — polycystic ovary syndrome, is stupid. We hate it. I have PCOS, my sweet client here has PCOS and we agreed that, as a ovary-owning society, we gon just h a t e itttt together.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ PCOS i s a hormonal disorder causing enlarged ovaries with small cysts on the outer edges. The cause of polycystic ovary syndrome isn't well understood, but may involve a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Stupid.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ It requires a medical diagnosis, but I promise you’ll know if you have it. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Symptoms are all over the place and vary between each person. My client and I have hardly any cohesive symptoms. Stupid. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ Symptoms can include anything from (✔️means I have it): menstrûal irregularity (✔️for as long as I can remember), excess hair growth, acne, obesity, overweight (✔️ I am about 200lbs at 5’2”. fat is not ugly. I am beautiful, but I am overweight), easily gains weight(✔️), difficulty losing weight(✔️), infertility, acne, depression(✔️ counting myself because my hormones will sometimes bring upon debilitating emotions), inappropriate male features, loss of scalp hair, oily skin, or unwanted hair.⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ dude, that list sucks. my condolences to all of us. ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ I see hormone-induced hair on my clients faces and bodies (@hyram shoulder shimmy, if you know you know) ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ every⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ single⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ weeeek⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ it’s normal. we hate it together. one of the worst parts?? you know how I’ve talked about when we’re waxing our terminal body hair (dense coarse hairs, vs vellus aka peach fuzz)⁣, it will come in thinner over time? ... that rule DOESNT apply to hormonal-induced- hair 😫⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ those stoopid lil dudes just keep coming in the same thickness they always have⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ and collectively, we can help tackle *some🙄* of these symptoms. treatments include birth control pills to regularize periods, a medication called metformin to prevent diabetes, statins to control high cholesterol, hormones to increase fertility, and procedures to remove excess hair.⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣ Pt. 2, next post . . . #pcos #bodyhair #facial #facialwaxing #instagram #photooftheday #tbt #bestoftheday #picoftheday #instapic #instadaily #instagood #bodywaxer
