As some of you might know I was born and raised in Argentina which plays a big role in my identity as a human being.
Never in a million years I would've imagine myself feeling proud of where I come from but I do, I do feel proud. Being South American, Indigenous, Latin American and Argentinian is part of me.
Many years ago I was very anti nationalism and couldn't understand how people felt proud of coming from somewhere but now I understand. It's been almost 2 years working as a content creator and it opened my eyes about who I am.
I live in a place where education is completely free, where healthcare is public (Although not always the best), a place where we as a society are aware of the rest of the world, we know we aren't the center of attention and want to share who we are with the rest and learn from them as well.
When I started working as a content creator I came across (And still do) so many ignorant people, people that think Latin America is dangerous when in reality the entire world is! People that don't even know where Argentina is, people that think Brazilians speak Spanish (Spoiler alert they don't), people that hyper sexualize latinas just because we are latinas ("Latina" shouldn't be a category in porn if we want to stop racism) people that think we are less educated when in reality it's the opposite.
All of these stereotypes, all of those people opened my eyes and I started to see how LUCKY I AM for being able to come from this place, living here helped me to learn what RESPECT, EFFORT AND EMPATHY ARE, and for that I will always be grateful.
World cup is only an excuse to express how I feel about where I come from.
People outside your bubble exist.
P.S: Even before World cup started I JUST KNEW they were going to win, I manifested it okay 🔮
