Chapter 6: The Experiment

The next day they gathered for breakfast in the kitchen, Marcus had cooked and the air was filled with the smell of fresh coffee and pastries. The conversation flowed lazily, and there came a moment when they ended up talking about Josh's life situation. Corey's partners were understanding and supportive, but they also encouraged Josh to explore life. They insisted that he needed to take a chance on the present and experience the opportunity that the universe was placing before him.

Over the next few weeks, Josh found himself drawn deeper into their world. Marcus and Adrian, with their wealth of experience, took it upon themselves to help Josh come out of his shell. They spent several weekends together, and the trio introduced him to new art forms, music, and social experiences he had long neglected, as well as sexual experiences he had never dreamed of trying.

Josh learned to appreciate the beauty in everyday moments, to find joy in the little things, and to miss those little things every minute of the days away from them. Corey, with his open smile and playful nature, made every interaction a joy. Their moments together were filled with laughter, deep conversation, and an undeniable physical connection. And Corey eventually managed to sketch Josh's face on a piece of paper, and then his chest, and then more. Adrian loved to take pictures, and he still edited them like old times, and Josh was amazed when he saw himself in them for the first time. He had never been aware of his own body. And seeing it like that, so rotund, so naked, for the first time, through someone else's eyes, helped him begin to heal and love himself a little more each day.

One night, after a particularly fun and intimate encounter, they sat down to dinner and had a frank conversation. Corey's partners tactfully acknowledged the bond between Josh and Corey; it was the elephant in the room. But they were okay with it, and after telling the guys they loved them, they suggested they explore it further, maybe take some time just for them.

Josh felt a mixture of gratitude and guilt. He cared for all of them, but his feelings for Corey were undeniable. They decided to take things one step at a time, without pressure or expectations.
