The process of pushing you down that path is slow and progressive. As i always say, going from zero to one hundred with a sub is unrealistic in most, if not all cases. Many subs need to be carefully pushed into reaching a new limit. There are many methods I use for this, but one strategy is verbal affirmation, instructing subs to exclude the words “I can’t”, “I’m not sure”, "It's not my thing" etc. from their vocabulary. But then again that's just the start of a long journey.
