Like most of us, my journey of life has come with monumental setbacks. But I am a firm believer in that our greatest adversities often reveal our truest character, strength and it’s where the most growth takes place. Without resistance there is none. I have learned to embrace adversity; and for that, it has served me well. There’s so many moments in my journey where I thought I had reached the “full circle moment.” In those moments I think about what my daughter and I overcame. It’s the moments of living in hell in an abusive relationship for several years, experiencing homelessness and living in a safe haven. I never fell victim to my circumstances and I refused to be defined by what happened to us. Instead, I decided to flip it and use our experiences to help others. I finally know what the full circle moment means. It’s simply a continuation; we never truly arrive. There’s no peaks or finish line. If someone told me that one day I would serve on The Board of Directors for the same Organization that saved our lives I would not have believed them. Only because I didn’t know it was a possibility for someone like me. As I continue to breakthrough barriers and reach new heights it’s a true reminder that anything is possible. This milestone is one that I am immensely proud of. Some people might perceive it as though I’ve reached the pinnacle but for me, it’s simply the beginning of something truly amazing. A new chapter.
